Welcome back, Two Small Puppies!

13th March, 2011: Hello everyone! After some neglect, the site is back and up to date.

Why was the site left in neglect, you may ask? Two Small Puppies was originally started in 2007 as a hobby business to supply hard-to-find items like Puppia harnesses, Keep Safe Collars and Chilly Dogs coats to the dog loving community.

As time passed, people began asking for more items and we started taking on a larger inventory. Unfortunately for us, a hobby business just cant get the discounted prices that major retailers get from wholesalers and thus it became a lot of work to remain competitive for very little profit. In many sales, we actually lost money due to the specific arrangement of items purchased and the postage we paid to get items in. Although Two Small Puppies was never started to generate any real income, it simply became too much work on top of our full time jobs.

We took a break for a while and watched as some of our previously stocked brands became more easily obtainable through chains, and distribution moved from buying direct from the manufacturer to being forced to buy from an Australian wholesaler - adding another middle man to the process. This also added postage delays - somewhat disappointingly, the postage from within Australia took longer than buying it in from overseas while costing literally four times the price.

Based on this, we've trimmed back the stock purely to items that are still hard to get in Australia. As before, this is a hobby and thus items are sold with very small profit margins. If we can pay for the product, postage and internet hosting while giving people access to quality dog accessories at reasonable prices then we consider Two Small Puppies to be a great victory.

Our current focus is on the Chilly Dogs coats (available here: Chilly Dogs) and the Keep Safe Collars (available here: KeepSafe Collars). We will slowly add back in products that people ask for, and occasionally sell items left over from our previous bulk orders. Check back every so often and see what we come up with - I guarantee that whatever we find to sell, it will always be the cheapest possible price available!
